CHUNGDAM AVENUE

Seoul, South Korea

Ralph Lauren

Opened 2003 – 12,000 sq. ft.

This Ralph Lauren boutique was the flagship presence in Korea when it was opened in 2003 and sits in the exclusive Chungdam neighborhood.

The restrained moderne architecture of 1940’s New York was the main point of departure for the design. The modern, luxury interior combines bleached Mahogany panels, polished nickel metal finishes and honed Limestone floors.

EAST COOPER AVENUE

Aspen, Co

Ralph Lauren

Opened 2004 – 7800 sq. ft.

This two story store occupies a prominent location in an historic commercial building at the heart of Aspen, Colorado. The Ground Floor is traditional, architecturally. Inspiration was drawn from features of the Old West such as the river stone fireplace and rough hewn oak floors.

The main Cash Point was designed using a reclaimed bar counter, display shelves from an old mercantile store & an antique clock to create a unified yet quirky & functional focal point to the store. The Lower Level became home to the re-launch of the RLX brand and is characterized by modern lines & sleek surfaces. Very much in contrast to the Ground Floor above.

THE PAVILLION

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Ralph Lauren

Opened 2007 – 6200 sq. ft.

With the success of the Moscow Barvika store concept and with the encouragement of Mr. Lauren, it was decided to try and push that concept forward in this licensee store location in Kuala Lumpur. The high profile location within the city’s newest high end luxury mall, The Pavilion, gave us the opportunity to make a statement with an all teak facade.

The fenestration was made of highly detailed satin stainless steel mullions and worked well in contrast to the roughness of the teak planks. The Men’s apparel section of the store features polished cherry paneling while the Women’s side gleams with high gloss white paneling.

WISCONSIN AVE

Chevy Chase, MD

Ralph Lauren

Opened 2005 – 12,000 sq. ft.

This store became the Washington DC area flagship when it opened in 2005. The store was designed to carry the full compliment of Ralph Lauren product. From Men’s to Women’s to Children’s to Home Collection, primarily from the higher price point categories.

Inspiration for this store drew from the architectural legacy of Washington’s Embassy Row. This is a retail store meant to evoke a grand residence where lavish entertaining was the norm. In addition to the interior spaces, I designed a grand two story facade that wraps the building on three sides, with it’s strongest presence at the front on Wisconsin Avenue.

BARVIKA LUXURY VILLAGE

Moscow, Russia

Ralph Lauren

Opened 2007 – 5600 sq. ft.

Opened concurrently with the Tretyakovsky Passage store, Barvika, in the wealthy Moscow suburbs, followed a radically different design approach. In contrast to the Passage store, with it’s conscious Czarist trappings, Barvika takes it’s cues from the sleek, Scandinavian style center by Herzog & DeMiron. The interior juxtaposes a rough limestone floor & teak ceiling with smooth, pared down wall surfaces. The exterior is kept quite restrained, in keeping with it’s context.

TRETYAKOVSKY PASSAGE

Moscow, Russia

Ralph Lauren

Opened 2007 – 6200 sq. ft.

Russian flagship boutique for Ralph Lauren, this store was a complete gut renovation of a historically listed property near Moscow’s Red Square. This three story store consists of a large Accessories presentation on the Ground Floor, Women’s Apparel on the second floor & Men’s apparel on the 3rd floor.

The design for the store was inspired by Russia’s rich architectural heritage while remaining true to the guiding Ralph Lauren aesthetic. From the outset this store caused a local sensation with record sales and helped to firmly root Ralph Lauren in the Russian market.
