NELSON SEVILLA RESIDENCE

New York City

Completed 2008 – 1300 sq. ft.

This residence combined two previously separate 1 bedroom apartments in the Chelsea section of Manhattan. The existing apartments were completely gutted and new kitchen, living room, dining room/guest room, wine cellar, master bedroom, master bathroom & walk in closet were created.

Clients wanted as large a open living space as possible while keeping the flexibility to convert dining area into a guest room. This was achieved with the use of a substantial sliding wall that sits concealed when not in use, but can be rolled out to create a private guest room in under 60 seconds.

SHANGHAI HONG KONG PLAZA

Shanghai, Peoples Republic of China

Coach

Opened 2015 – 7000 sq. ft.

The Shanghai Hong Kong Plaza boutique is the key Flagship location for Coach’s China business. This renovation of the existing store was completed in late 2015. It consists of 2 sales floors with an emphasis on its Women’s business. This store features three important design features. The large, fully lit façade, which has a high impact on Huaihai Middle Road. The stair and stair wall which replaces an existing stair in an enlarged location. And the “Craftsmanship Bar”, a new in-store feature for Coach’s high profile locations.

TOKYO OMOTESANDO

Tokyo, Japan

Coach

Opened 2013 – 5000 sq. ft.

Designed in collaboration with Rem Koolhaas’s Oma New York Office, this two story Coach boutique opened in May of 2013. The unique facade quickly dominated the Omotesando neighborhood, and area already accustomed to star-architect-designed boutiques. The three-dimensional glass herringbone pattern on the facade was repeated in the interior as a floating star enclosure. The enclosure was internally lit with integrated LED panels, and it anchored the interior space around it.

CHONGQING MIX C

Chongquin, Peoples Republic of China

Coach

Opened 2015 – 2800 sq. ft.

Continuing the transition Coach is making to its new store concept, we were challenged here by the immense exterior facade. Three stories high and facing a public plaza, elevated train, and an expressway, the challenges were to create an engaging facade that was properly scaled to the environment but also stayed within strict budget parameters. The results proved that good design can leverage both aesthetic abilities as well as local building skills to bring tangible value to a client.

CHENGDU IFS

Chengdu, Peoples Republic of China

Coach

Opened 2013 – 3200 sq. ft.

This boutique was designed during a period of experimentation with the Coach brand. Moving from the well-know clean, white stores of the past towards an identity that aimed at a higher segment of the market, the design of this store sought to capture a sense of luxury while staying true to the heritage of the old retail identity of the brand.

The result is a hybrid design the nonetheless achieves a strong identity of its own. A particular challenge of tis site was the multi-segmented curved facade. In response, we created a faceted storefront, broken into segments that are each individually lit. The segments were composed together to form a non-repeating pattern.

BEIJING ORIENTAL PLAZA

Beijing, Peoples Republic Of China

Coach

Opened 2014 – 2100 sq. ft.

With Coach transitioning into its new store concept, key markets have been a focus for renovations, expansions & relocations. The existing Coach location at Beijing’s Oriental Plaza Mall was on this list. The new, relocated boutique became the 1st of a small group of pilot stores for this new design concept.

The site here had extremely low ceilings and so had to adapt to this condition. Also, as the mall is popular and space scarce, a key challenge was to maximize capacity while remaining true to the more luxurious store design concept.
